Finding skilled labour has been an ongoing focus of our magazine. Frankly, it’s hard to find people that want to work in our industry. That’s why the Temporary Foreign Worker Program exists in the first place, and we’ve covered it on our pages for some time.
However, the program has come under attack because it’s seen as favouring foreigners versus Canadians. As a result, the federal government has backtracked on the program, announcing various measures to help stem criticism. The changes can be found here. Not everyone is happy about these changes, including the Canadian Federation of Independent Business.
We have proposed some unique solutions to address the ongoing skills gap, which can be found in our current feature focus on labour.
