Learn the essentials about The Construction Lien Act

If your business is in Ontario and you are involved with the construction industry, don’t miss this professional development seminar on Nov. 27. It’s titled, The Construction Lien Act: Liens and Trusts. The seminar is being jointly presented by the Ontario chapter of the Architectural Woodwork Manufacturers Association of Canada (AWMAC) and the Toronto Construction Association (TCA).

Guest speaker Michael Swartz, a partner at the law Toronto firm WeirFoulds LLP, will be giving an overview of this Act that is unique to the construction industry.

His presentation will cover the Act’s purpose; timing, limitation and holdback of liens; trusts and how they differ from liens; personal liability; and breaches of trust. This important seminar is the final AWMAC event of 2014.

If you are an AWMAC member, you can have your $200 participation fee refunded by attended the seminar. You can also pick up a copy of the Architectural Woodwork Standards Manual second edition at the event.

The seminar takes place Thursday, Nov. 27 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon in the Heritage Room of the TCA offices at 70 Leek Crescent in Richmond Hill, Ont.
